Net Zero Week: Progress in Action

As we mark Net Zero Week, we’re reflecting on the progress we’ve made across our business and highlighting some of the key initiatives helping us reduce our environmental impact and move closer to our net zero ambitions.

From generating renewable energy on-site and gaining deeper insight into the carbon footprint of our products, to achieving significant reductions in our overall emissions, every step is helping to create a more sustainable future.

Powering Change with Solar Energy

One of the most visible ways we’re reducing operational emissions is through investment in renewable energy.

We have now installed solar panels across seven of our sites, generating clean, renewable electricity directly where it’s needed most. In 2026 alone, these installations have enabled us to produce and consume 730,600 kWh of renewable energy, reducing our reliance on grid electricity and lowering our environmental footprint.

This renewable generation has delivered a carbon saving of 363 tCO₂e, representing a meaningful contribution towards our net zero goals.

While we’re proud of this achievement, we see it as just the beginning. We’re actively exploring opportunities to expand solar generation across additional sites, increasing the amount of renewable energy within our operations and accelerating our transition to a lower-carbon future.

Understanding the Footprint of Our Products

Reducing emissions isn’t only about how we operate, it’s also about understanding the environmental impact of the products we design and manufacture.

As part of our commitment to calculate the embodied carbon of our main product lines by 2027, we’ve introduced a shared platform, One Click LCA, to strengthen how we assess and manage product sustainability.

Lucy Electric is leading the way, applying the platform in practice and helping establish the knowledge, processes and capabilities needed to scale this approach across the Group. Other businesses are also making strong progress and have the potential to adopt the platform as its rollout continues.

Using One Click LCA will enable us to:

  • Measure embodied carbon consistently across our product ranges
  • Understand environmental impacts across the full product lifecycle
  • Create Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) to meet growing customer expectations
  • Support ecodesign by evaluating alternative materials and design choices

As demand for transparent product-level environmental data continues to grow, alongside regulations such as the EU Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation, building this capability is increasingly important.

By improving our understanding of product impacts today, we’re creating the foundation to design lower-impact solutions tomorrow.

Tracking Our Emissions Progress

Measuring progress is essential to achieving meaningful change, and we’re encouraged by the results we’ve achieved so far this year.

Compared with our 2021 baseline, we have reduced our overall emissions by 22.7%, putting us on track to exceed our 2026 reduction target of 21%.

Key achievements include:

  • 35.3% reduction in Scope 2 emissions
  • 30.8% reduction in Scope 3 emissions
  • 22.7% reduction in overall emissions

These reductions are the result of collective efforts across our businesses, including improvements in energy efficiency, increased use of renewable energy and closer collaboration with suppliers and partners throughout our value chain.

While we are proud of the progress made to date, we recognise that there is more work ahead. Scope 3 emissions remain a particular area of focus as we continue working with our supply chain to drive further reductions and deliver lasting impact.

The Long Term Journey

Net zero is a long-term journey that requires commitment, innovation and collaboration. The progress we’ve made so far demonstrates that the actions we’re taking are making a real difference. From generating renewable energy on-site and improving our understanding of product carbon impacts, we’re delivering significant emissions reductions across the business.

As we celebrate Net Zero Week, we’re proud of how far we’ve come, but even more excited about what lies ahead as we continue building a more sustainable future.
