A Conversation with Tamara Driver‑Jones, Senior Sustainability Analyst

As we kick off National Careers Week, we’re spotlighting Tamara Driver‑Jones, Senior Sustainability Analyst at Lucy Group. Tamara’s career story is rooted in purpose, global experiences, and a commitment to protecting both people and the planet.

Where Passion Meets Purpose

Tamara’s inspiration for sustainability began during her Marine Biology degree. “I took part in research trips to remote parts of Indonesia and India, working with local communities and marine ecosystems. Seeing even these remote areas under strain highlighted the need for solutions that protect both nature and the people who depend on it. That led me to pursue a Master’s in Global Sustainability Solutions and a career in sustainability.”

These experiences gave her a deeper understanding of global environmental pressures and the systemic challenges faced by vulnerable communities.

Navigating a Changing Landscape

Sustainability is fast‑moving, and keeping pace can be demanding. “One of the biggest challenges has been keeping up with rapidly evolving sustainability regulation, and translating complex, ambiguous requirements into something meaningful for decision‑makers.”

This has meant building confidence, asking the right questions, and communicating clearly.

Career Highlights

Two achievements stand out for Tamara.

First, she strengthened Lucy Group’s community impact by helping develop the Group’s relationship and sponsorship with The Cornerman, a local men’s mental health charity. “Working on an initiative that benefits both the community and our employees has been incredibly rewarding.”

Second, she led the first Group Sustainability Workshop, organising a three‑day event that brought together representatives from every business across the Group. “Coordinating something on that scale, and seeing such strong engagement, was a proud milestone.”

People Who Shape Growth

A key learning for Tamara has been understanding the importance of communication: “Analysis on its own isn’t enough, you need to be able to tell the story behind the numbers.” This has strengthened her influence and ability to support decision‑making.

Two colleagues have played an important role in her development: Greg Fenton, Group Head of Health, Safety and Sustainability, who has offered support and trust; and Cristiana Padilla, Group CSR Manager, whose resilience and authentic leadership guide her approach.

Sustainability Trends

Looking ahead, Tamara sees sustainability increasingly becoming a financial issue, with climate and environmental risks influencing lending, investment, valuations, and long‑term resilience. To keep growing, she stays on top of regulatory updates, collaborates across teams, and continues asking questions. “Being okay with not having all the answers has been the biggest thing that keeps me growing.”
