Lucy Electric funds community projects in India

As part of its ongoing commitment to corporate responsibility (CR), Lucy Group's India based subsidiary has announced it will fund the construction of two new classrooms at a primary school in Kota Maida Village, Baroda. The project will also see Lucy funding allocated to building additional sanitation facilities in the village, which lies around 6km from the Lucy Electric site in the district of Panchmahal, Gujarat.

A committee of the Lucy Electric Manufacturing and Technologies India (Private) Board of directors considered a number of different environmental and social projects before deciding to fund the Kota Maida projects in October 2015. The main Lucy Board and representatives of Lucy Electric visited the school in November to see how the local community will benefit from the project and also to distribute school bags to each pupil in the school.

Construction work on the project is due to start in mid-April after the completion of school exams and is anticipated to be complete in June 2016.
